Michael "Mike" Toby, 37, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Ashland City, Tennessee.

Mike was a brilliant, shy, and gentle spirit—thoughtful, observant, and deeply introspective. He believed that people could evolve into kinder, more conscious versions of themselves, and he held a quiet conviction that an unassuming nature, simplicity, self-growth, and service to others were noble paths toward shaping a better world for people, animals, and the communities we choose to build with one another.

A passionate lifelong learner, Mike devoted himself to understanding the world with curiosity and sincerity, and with a stubborn resolve to find the answers to life's biggest questions. His most recent pursuits included learning sustainable and organic farming practices, various construction trades, and learning to play the acoustic guitar, as well as studying Spanish and French. He also drew inspiration from the teachings of people he studied and admired—especially David Goggins—whose focus on self-discipline, accountability, and personal growth informed Mike's own journey and commitment to a life of reflection, self-understanding, and growth. He found solace in living simply, practicing yoga, giving back to the community, and connecting with loved ones, all while seeking deeper understanding and ways to positively impact others and the planet.

He is survived by his parents, Cindy and Eugene, his sisters, Stephanie and Elizabeth, and a community of people who shared his passions and were touched by his kindness.

May his quiet wisdom continue to guide us toward gentler, more conscious ways of living.
