Lisa Weaver James, age 50 of Brentwood, Tennessee passed away surrounded by family on Monday, May 4th, 2026 at Alive Hospice.

Born on August 9, 1975 in Pensacola, Florida to James Russell and Judy Kay Weaver (Baker), Lisa grew up in Pensacola with her older brother, James Cornell Weaver, swimming and participating in color guard and other activities. She graduated from Tate High School in 1993.  She then studied mass communication and advertising at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida graduating in 1997.  After graduation, Lisa moved to Nashville to begin her career in advertising.  Shortly after relocating, she got a job at a local agency called Gish, Sherwood & Friends (GS&F).  She worked at this agency for about 27 years, eventually earning the title of Vice President, Group Media.

Lisa has two children, Lawson James Morel (19) and London Kay Morel (17).  Lawson will be a sophomore at Belmont University in the fall, and London will be a senior at John Overton High School.  Lisa met Jackie Hauser James in 2016, and they married in May of 2020.

Lisa was known for her beautiful smile, her bright shining eyes, and her sense of humor.  She cared deeply for her family and friends, and she was extremely loyal.  She lived by the motto, "Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."  Lisa worked really hard to maintain a healthy work-life- balance, and she always prioritized time with her children and wife.

Lisa is survived by her wife Jackie, her children Lawson & London, her parents James & Judy Weaver, her brother James Weaver & his wife Sonu Weaver (Nanda) and their children James & Divya.

Lisa was preceded in death by her infant sister and her grandparents Henrietta & Cornell Baker and James A. & June E. Weaver.

Lisa fought valiantly against an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) for over three years.  There is no known cure for this disease, but Lisa always hoped that she would live to see the cure.  Though she did not, Lisa bravely participated in treatments that are part of the journey towards finding a cure for GBM.  She had radiation, chemotherapy and a minor surgery at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center here in Nashville, and she had two major surgeries at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago.  Both hospital systems helped add years to her life and life to her years.

Lisa would not want anyone to dwell on the sadness of her passing but to instead rejoice in the memories created and laughter shared with her.  In keeping with this sentiment, she explicitly requested no funeral or memorial service.  Instead, if you feel called, donations can be made in memory of Lisa to the following organizations --

Alive Hospice is the only non-profit hospice provider in the Middle Tennessee region. Gladiator Project

Gladiator Project is a non-profit organization started by Eric and Leslie South here in Nashville. When Eric was fighting Glioblastoma (GBM), he wanted to start an organization to raise funds for brain cancer research and to support fellow GBM "gladiators."  This organization continues on in Eric's memory as part of his legacy.  He and Lisa became friends, connected through their respective battles with GBM.

Crosswalk Church

Lisa was a member of this church (once New Hope Community Church) for about 20 years.  Especially in the yeas since her diagnosis, Lisa took great comfort in her faith and in this faith-community.
