Gwain Leroy Scott, 85, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on September 8, 1940, in Olla, Louisiana, Leroy was known for his remarkable toughness and resilience, enduring unimaginable hardships and overcoming numerous obstacles, while never letting anything take away his joy for life.

Leroy served his country with honor as a member of the Air Force at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. After service, Leroy began his professional journey at Monroe Office Equipment, where he worked for nearly three decades. Starting as a service technician, he rose through the ranks to become a senior manager. Later, Leroy turned his passion for woodworking into a second career building homes in Northeast Arkansas and Middle Tennessee.

A man of deep faith, Leroy was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church where he was a leader for the Royal Ambassadors program and participated in several mission trips. In civic life he was a longstanding member of the Sertoma Club. In addition to his professional accomplishments and community involvement, Leroy found great joy in fishing and camping.

Leroy is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Scott; daughter Cindy (Rodney) Basco; stepsons Jeff Patterson (Christy Valentine) and Jason (Carrie) Wilkins; grandson Rob (Brittany) Parks; step grandsons Elliott Wilkins, Tyler (Sydney) Basco, Asa (Diana) Basco; great-grandson Kade Parks; as well as several step great-grandchildren who brought him much happiness.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tullos Parker and Amanda Scott; son Gwain Scott Jr.; brothers Glen Scott, Billy Scott, Richard Scott, and Ronnie Scott; and sisters Mable Proffitt, Dorothy Wefelmeyer, Ida Lou White, Edna Langston, and Frances Whittaker.
